WOMEN AS SUICIDE BOMBERS

WOMEN AS SUICIDE BOMBERS

The sudden surge of female suicide bombers raises a question of whether women are forced to become human bombs or are staunchly faithful to an Islamic group that made them detonate themselves.

Amid the intricacies of terrorist-related activities such as recruitment and the long-term process of preparing for the bombing itself, psychologists and military experts attempt at unlocking the psyche of a terrorist. Are they into it or are they willing to die for a cause after having been promised what most jihadists call paradise? An interesting number of cases, from the war fought in Sri Lanka and Chechnya to the conflict-ridden cities in Iraq, suggest that female suicide bombers belong to these two groups. Some are willing while others are not.

Willing suicide bombers are those that held positions in terrorist groups. The unwilling are either coerced or ignorant of the scheme plotted against them.

Solving the problem is far from finish but peace-loving women in Iraq have started to wage their own war against terrorists who continue to exploit vulnerable women and children. Iraq has its own troop of female police that constantly check on women without violating laws at the checkpoint. A female radio broadcaster was reported to have her say on issues involving women and terrorism. She continues to shed light on the interpretation of the Koran and by doing so she also raises awareness of terrorist activities among women.
